hehehehehe

I was sitting in a cafeteria recently, next to a Blonde woman who was engrossed in her newspaper. One of the headlines blared:

"12 Brazilian Soldiers Killed."

She shook her head at the sad news. Then, turning to me, she asked, "How many is a Brazilian?"

It's been a while since I heard a blonde joke that made me laugh. ;-)

Celebrity Politics.

Celebrities are stupid. Proven scientific fact.

Okay, maybe not, but I have my opinions on the subject. The only problem is that since I'm not a celebrity, my opinions don't matter one iota to anyone but me. Celebrities, on the other hand, seem to think that because their teeth are two shades whiter than the rest of the general population, or because they can afford a private hairdresser to follow their every move to make sure they are beautiful at all times, that means that their political opinions are so much more important than say, oh, the guy that delivers their groceries. The problem with this scenario is that because celebrities always have cameras shoved in their faces, they mistake the general population's fascination with photogenic people as the need to be told what our political beliefs should be, by extremely stupid people. Is it just me.. or am I the only one that believes that just because a person is easy on the eyes it doesn't make them shockingly brilliant or worthy of speaking for the rest of us?

Now don't get me wrong. There are some amazingly sharp celebrities. Jodie Foster (graduated from Yale, or Harvard, or somewhere ivy covered like that), Geena Davis (member of MENSA), etc., but oddly you don't hear them trying to force their political beliefs on us. I'm starting to think that celebrity politics directly relate to their IQ levels. The higher the intelligence, the more they realize that regular folks DON'T CARE about their politics.

Hence.... STUPID CELEBRITIES shout about their political beliefs because they are dumb enough to think we care.

Pretty simple really. But that's just my opinion.

It's been a strange strange week.

First, a close family member did something extremely stupid and I ended up sitting in the hosital emergency room for 12 hours on Sunday. Fun.

Now, this Hurricane Rita that is expected to hit somewhere between Galveston and Corpus Christy, Texas. My favorite aunt lives right there, somewhere in between Galveston and Corpus Christy, Texas. I made sure she was leaving, she's heading up to my mom & dad's house in Oklahoma (thank God). I think if I had anything else to worry about this week my brain would meltdown and leak out my ears.

On the bright side, I was at SABHC (Savannah Area Behavioral Health) yesterday with the extremely stupid family member, and while they were in the back I was in the waiting room. Now that place is a mine of great blog fodder. There was a teeny tiny little old man there, probably in his 60s, but hard to tell. He stood at about 5' tall. He was dressed in winter clothes (even though it was 90 degrees outside), with a long, black leather trench coat over his thick, heavy sweater. He was very polite, he said please, thank you, and yes ma'am everytime he was spoken to. He is also out of his gourd (obviously the reason he was there). He was talking about his $160,000 per year job. The job that he gets paid all of that to sit on his ass and smoke cigarettes all day. The job that he couldn't quit because he won't "disappoint the President." He was also going on about a married woman that really wanted him, but her husband knew she wanted him so he politely declined, no hard feelings and all. He was harmless. I could have sat there and talked to him all day. Who knows, maybe that stuff was true. ;-)

That got me wondering about people like him, people with that air of hopelessness around them, people that you can tell were raised right, but something went wrong somewhere. What went wrong? What separates him and people like him from the rest of the general population, the ones that didn't go crazy, the ones that have their feet planted firmly in reality. What was their defining moment?

I've been thinking about that a lot.

Stuff. Lots of stuff.

Oh man Fark.Com is just a fountain of information today. I've listed some of my favorites, just in case you care.

This one is a complete riot (depending on if you are male or female, I suspect), but its on a site called The Spoof, so I have my suspicions that it may not be a legitimate news story. Too bad, I think the idea is GREAT.

50 Most Awesomely Bad Songs Ever. Doesn't that sound like a seriously great article? The thing is, I have to admit to liking a few of the songs on the list. Does that make me a horrible person? Should I be hauled out and shot for terminal bad taste? What I would like to know is WHO gets to decide what songs are good and what songs are bad, is it just a matter of opinion of the writer of the article, because if so, I would like to nominate Hollaback Girl as the worst song EVER. (And if you leave me in the control of this blog, I'll be sure to name all of the Britney Spears songs as crimes against society.)

The Islamic School of Sex. So many inappropriate comments, so little time. hehe

Ok, now this one is just plain cool. He must be one tough codger.

And finally (for now, until I can read more articles), this story is the funniest thing I've read all week. Being a fan of old B horror movies, this makes me want to run right out and rent. But the guy's comments are just too funny for description. Or maybe I'm just sleepy from getting up so early. hmmmmm

More later, whether you like it or not.

Inkblots

I took an onine inkblot test. This was how they described me:

Your subconscious mind is driven most by Curiosity

You are full of questions about life, people, and your own potential. You spend more time than others imagining the possibilities for your life — and you're open to things others are too afraid to consider.

You have an almost physical need to know and do more. It's only through new experiences that you feel a greater understanding of yourself and the world. You also have a rebellious streak that shows up when you feel unable to truly influence the world or circumstances around you. Your appetite for novel experiences also shows an openness others don't have, but wish they did.

That almost makes me wish I had a life so I could have fun with it. I think I'll plan a solo vacation, to Scotland. I'll stay in a tiny bed & breakfast in a tiny town, and walk the back roads and explore the nooks and crannies, and have people laugh at my accent (or lack of one actually), find a nice, devastatingly handsome scot to have a holiday affair with, and then go quietly on my way, leaving him behind to pine for me.

Sounds like a plan. hehe
